Yellowstone prequel 1923 is due to come to an end with an exclusive two-hour event on Paramount Plus. The streamer had not previously announced the episode count for the second season, so the finale date of April 6 came as a surprise to fans.

The season two finale, titled A Dream and A Memory, follows the harrowing killing spree in the penultimate episode, which featured seven deaths. One of which was Jack Dutton (played by Darren Mann), who was shot by Clyde (Brian Konowal).

The synopsis for the finale reads: “Jacob [Harrison Ford] and his crew eagerly await Spencer’s [Brandon Sklenar] return at the train station. Teonna [Amina Nieves] has a fateful run in. Alexandra [Schlaepfer] braves the cold.”

While the logline may be vague, Clyde actor Brian and Sarah Randall Hunt, who plays Ellie Creighton, the wife of Banner Creighton (Jerome Flynn), both teased a satisfying ending to the Yellowstone prequel.

Speaking to Reach titles about how the series ends, Brian said: “Working on 1923 has been a phenomenal experience. I’ll miss playing Clyde for sure, but I’m also excited to see what Taylor does next as he looks in on the Dutton’s evolution.

“Knowing it was the final season made me appreciate the experience all the more and I am satisfied with how beautifully it ends. I think the audience is going to love it.”

Meanwhile Sarah added: “Endings are always bittersweet, but I’m pleased as punch with how 1923 wraps up. It feels right for it to be a limited series. Powerful.

“And you know what they say—endings are just the start of something new. I hope we get to meet more of the Dutton family tree someday soon.”

While there is currently no series planned for the next generation of Duttons, Taylor Sheridan has planned a separate series called The Madison.

The Yellowstone spin-off series is said to follow a wealthy family from New York who, in the aftermath of the death of their patriarch, relocate to the Madison River valley of central Montana.

Clyde actor Brian opened up about some of his favourite moments from filming the final episodes of 1923, which included Jack Dutton’s shocking death.

He said: “The stand out moment filming this season for me was Clyde sending Jack Dutton to meet his maker. What a great scene!

“We had high stakes drama. Stunts, weapons, horses, and we were on location in the Montana wilderness. I could not hope for a better team to put it together from top to bottom than this crew.

“Professionals all round. It was an honor and a thrill to play a badass cowboy for Taylor Sheridan and be a part of Yellowstone legacy.”

He paid tribute to Harrison Ford, saying he has been learning from the esteemed actor for as long as he can remember.

“Harrison is always able to infuse a kind of vulnerability into his characters, which makes him completely relatable,” he said.

“Even though Clyde becomes a ruthless killer, he was a normal fella put into an impossible position.

“Watching Harrison was a huge influence on me wanting to become an actor. He’s the best on and off screen. We both love the work, and I’ll try to bring some Harrison energy to every project.”
