Emmerdale has had another busy week as the drama continues to heat up in the Dales for the residents. Of course, the fireworks are set to continue.

Recently, Joe Tate faced a grisly comeuppance as he was pushed out of the upstairs window at Home Farm after his dirty laundry was aired.

It was his lover Dawn Fletcher who turned on him in a “crime of passion”. While he survived, what does this mean for Dawn and Joe going forward?

As Ross is introduced to his long lost half-brother Lewis, he’s conflicted on whether or not to share the truth about their mother Emma and what she was really life, as well as how she died.

Here’s what’s to come in the Dales…

John and Mackenzie

Mackenzie turns desperate…
After the slurry tank incident, Mack blames himself and the guilt he feels burdens him as he sees Harry in the hospital.

Harry is on a drip in the hospital and Mackenzie a pariah. Meanwhile Moira awaits the bill for the slurry spill clean-up, fatalistic about the farm’s prospects – after 16 years of farming the land through tragedy and trauma; the refusal of the insurers to cover for Mackenzie’s apparent recklessness with the slurry spill has Moira accepting this is the death knell for her tenure of the farm.

Overwhelmed with his secret guilt, John can’t help snapping at Aaron. Blaming himself for Harry’s condition, Mack breaks down in John’s arms – as John’s guilt threatens to overwhelm him too.

With Mack being ostracised by sister Moira and mortified over his actions he backs out of being Aaron’s best man. Seeing how gutted Aaron is at the news, John vows to fix things and soon orchestrates a plan but will it work?

John’s past returns…
With John attempting to bury the past – sometimes literally – things get too close to comfort for the ex-Army medic as Aidan’s mum pays him an unexpected visit.

At the hospital, Victoria is grateful to John for all his support, John is delighted until he bumps into Cathleen, who assumes he’s been notified that there’s been news about Aidan and begs him to accompany her to see him on his ward; It’s too dangerously close for John who can’t wait to get Harry out of hospital as soon as possible. At the mention of John, Aidan’s eyelids suddenly spring open…

The next day John is trapped in a new private nightmare when he hears that Aidan has awoken from his coma. John’s drawn to Aidan’s bedside to try and assess the threat level – will Aidan remember their shared past?

With Harry due home from hospital tomorrow and Aidan thankfully still non-verbal, John’s hopeful. However, unbeknownst to him Belle’s about to pull the thread that could unravel his lies.

Sarah’s secret plans…
After deciding that she wants to start IVF treatment, Sarah has decided to keep it from her loved ones as she doesn’t want anyone talking her out of it.

Sarah’s keeping her forthcoming fertility appointment at the clinic a secret from her family and is manipulating Cain into advancing her wages as she needs the money for it. At the Fertility Clinic, despite the doctor’s concerns, Sarah’s doggedly determined to fulfil her dream of motherhood.

Back home Sarah’s hell bent on not only becoming a mother but on keeping it a secret from her family. The next day Sarah’s nervous but excited as she prepares for a further examination at the Fertility Clinic. Dr Knapp tries not to alarm Sarah as she advises how she found some inflammation while examining her cervix.

Sarah fears the worst and once home Sarah can’t bring herself to open up to Vanessa about what transpired at her appointment, resolving to suffer in secret. When Sarah attempts to talk to Cain and Charity both are busy.

With the family distracted by other news Sarah slips away to her hospital appointment alone where she’s forced to face her potential cancer diagnosis. Sarah’s isolated as she awaits the results of her biopsy.

Moira and Cain

Moira buckles as painful memories return…
Now that Lewis has returned to continue to bond with Ross, Moira’s guilt becomes almost unbearable as she recalls Emma Barton.

Ross initially ignores Lewis’ fresh attempts to get close, but soon he is unable to resist meeting his brother again. As Lewis starts to wangle the family secrets out of him, Lewis asks to meet Moira but Ross is unsure.

The timing is bad for Moira who is at her wits’ end, just as Ross arrives explaining Lewis, the long-lost son of a woman she killed, is waiting outside for her; And Moira braces herself for the encounter. Soon, Moira buckles under the weight of the painful memories that have been rekindled.

Ross and Lewis strike a deal…
The next day, Ross is having to get used to having a new sibling in his life, but his ears prick up on hearing Lewis is growing weed. Meanwhile, up at the farm with the financial troubles so worrying, Moira’s ready to jack it all in. The next day, as Lewis and Ross continue to bond, Ross acquires a few cannabis plants.

Soon Mack is suspicious of Ross lurking and sees the cannabis plants – with Mack soon sworn to secrecy over Ross’ illicit plan. Mack sees a solution to covering the farm’s fines. But Mack and Ross soon realise they don’t have enough cannabis plants and devise an alternative scheme.

Belle and John

Belle’s determined to find Nate…
Not knowing that Nate was accidentally killed by John, the residents begin to worry about his disappearance.

Tracy is still secretly using Nate’s credit card, but when it is unexpectedly declined Belle helps her out. After chatting to Tracy, Belle is suspicious of Nate’s out of character disappearance. Belle wants to head to Scotland to find Nate. Before long, Belle explains to Sam how Nate never arrived at his job in the Shetlands.

Soon, Cain struggles to digest the information Nate never made it to the Shetland isles. John does his best to convince Belle that Nate doesn’t want to be found and prevents her from calling the police to report Nate as a missing person.

Realising how it might impact Tracy and Frankie, Belle reluctantly agrees not to get the police involved. Belle puts Nate to the back of her mind as the Dingles prepare for the wedding.

But just as things seem to be back on track, John panics when he overhears Moira telling Cain the water company has to dredge the lake. Meanwhile, at the Lake, Nate’s arm looms below the surface of the lake, waiting to be found.

Elsewhere in the Dales…
Mack is doing everything he can to make amends after his apparent mistake with the slurry. Nicola catastrophizes about the village water supply, Charity tells her the situation has left Mackenzie a broken man. Soon Nicola’s impressed with herself as she arranges an emergency water supply for the village.
