EastEnders fans have said that there ‘can’t be any other ending’ for Sonia Fowler after a dark twist involving Terry Cant in the latest episode of the programme.

Thursday (April 17) will see Natalie Cassidy’s character saying goodbye to Walford as she seeks a fresh start away from Albert Square.

Sonia’s farewell week has seen her finally meet her father Terry Cant, who has been missing from her life ever since he was first mentioned over 30 years ago.

Proving his identity after Tom ‘Rocky’ Cotton tricked her in the past, Terry offered for Sonia and her two children to move to Bali with him.

Previously admitting that he avoided contacting Sonia out of ‘cowardice’, Terry assured her that he has a wellness business and has his life in order.

However, a stunning twist in scenes aired on Wednesday (April 16) has changed many fans’ opinions on where the story is going on the BBC soap

The episode began with Sonia pondering if it was time to say goodbye to Walford, after recently struggling in the wake of her former husband Martin Fowler’s and ex fiancé Reiss Colwell’s death.

Heading to Martin’s stall to try to find some guidance, she and Kathy Beale shared a heart-to-heart as they reflected on the good times they had with him.

One candid scene saw Sonia paying a visit to Stacey Slater, after being informed by her mum Jean that she hasn’t been keeping well.

Despite suffering with grief, Stacey assured Sonia that she would be okay and wanted her to live the life she wants to live.

Sonia went on to let her sister Bianca Jackson know that she would be leaving the next day, with Patsy Palmer’s character attempting to show support in spite of her not liking Martin.

Heading to the playground, Bianca was considering calling their mum Carol Jackson, when Terry emerged from the shadows to warn her about getting in his way.

Violently grabbing Bianca, Terry said: “I’ve waited a long, long time for this and I’m not going to let you ruin it. So you just steer clear of us, you understand?”

Fans over on the EastEnders Reddit page rushed to have their say on the twist, with everyone calling on Sonia finally to get a happy ending.

@glum-Interaction8968 said: “I really hope Bianca tells Sonia what happened, she believes her, and they go off together. There can’t be any other ending now, right? Right?”@icy-Pen6849 added: “Hopefully, they, Julia and Bex decide to go and live with David & Carol up north.”

Will Sonia learn the truth about her dad and finally listen to Bianca, or will she head towards an uncertain future? One thing that’s for sure is that Thursday’s episode is a must watch.
