Coronation Street star Tony Maudsley made a cheeky attempt to tempt an Emmerdale actress over to the cobbles as another former village resident arrived.

The actor, who is best known for playing George Shuttleworth in the ITV soap, was recently delighted as Natalie Anderson officially arrived in the show.

Soap fans will recall that Natalie joined Emmerdale in 2010 to take on the role of Alicia Metcalfe. Alicia was the sister of Leyla Harding, and she adopted Jacob Gallagher as Leyla gave Jacob to Alicia and Justin to raise because Alicia was infertile.

She left in 2015 to go and live in Portugal and hasn’t been seen in the Dales since – even in recent weeks when Leyla died after the limo crash.

However, Natalie has since made her debut in rival soap Coronation Street as the wife of Danielle, the wife of Theo Silverton. Fans watched as Todd Grimshaw took a shine to Theo when the scaffolder first arrived and it appeared as though the feelings were mutual after as they spent some time together.

But after plenty of mixed signals, things turned sour when Todd met Theo’s wife Danielle as she arrived at Shuttleworths funeral parlous to plan her mother’s funeral, alongside Theo and their children.

As Theo desperately tried to explain, admitting he’s been married for nineteen years but has known all his life that he’s gay. The storyline is continuing to unfold on-screen and shortly after Natalie’s first scenes, Tony showed his support.

He took to Instagram with a snap of himself, Natalie and Amy Robbins, who recently returned to the cobbles as Daisy Midgeley’s mum, Christina Boyd.

Alongside the photo, Tony wrote: “‘When shall we three meet again?’ The last time we were all together was 18 years ago on ‘The Royal’. So lovely to now be having a reunion on the cobbles. #Corrie with @amylouiserobbins_ & @natjanderson.”

It was then Emmerdale star Michelle Hardwick, who played receptionist Lizzie Hopkirk in ITV drama The Royal, who commented as she said: “Pure FOMO [fear of missing out].” Tony then replied: “There’s currently no Vet in Weatherfield…just saying’!”

Michelle, whose wife Kate Brooks is the new producer of Corrie, responded with a string of crying laughing emojis and the woman raising hand emoji. Meanwhile, Natalie told her: “We missed you beauty!”
