Cain saves Joe’s life in Emmerdale following Caleb’s murder plot

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale has aired a shocking move from Cain Dingle as he saved Joe Tate’s life.

This week, Caleb Miligan finally put the pieces together to uncover the truth about Joe stealing his kidney. Caleb’s suspicions began when he returned to the private clinic and was told nobody by the name of Dr Crowley had ever worked there.

After finding out about Joe’s mysterious injury, Caleb visited Home Farm and discovered the medication he had been taking since the secret transplant. Realising what had happened, a furious Caleb confirmed the truth by punching Joe in his hidden wound.

However, Joe revealed his knowledge of Anthony’s recent death and cover-up, leaving the pair in a stalemate. In the final scene, Caleb decided to get rid of Joe once and for all, enlisting the help of his brother Cain.

In yesterday’s episode, Caleb came clean to Ruby about the ordeal, but reassured her that their secret would remain safe. Ruby was skeptical but her husband insisted he would “make sure” Joe keeps quiet.

Meanwhile, Cain put a stop to Caleb’s plans, declaring that neither of them were going to kill Joe, but offered to find another way to stop him. Caleb was unimpressed and took matters into his own hands, summoning Joe to the depot.

Caleb arrived in his car, revving his engine angrily before barreling towards Joe. However, Cain appeared in the nick of time, grabbing Joe out of the car’s way and saving his life. “I should have known you’d do something like this,” Joe shouted at Caleb. “This is not over.”

Cain explained his actions to his brother, saying he was preventing Caleb from going to prison. But Caleb replied that he’d put their family in more danger by saving Joe.

Later, Ruby continued to spiral before Joe arrived and informed her of the day’s events. He told her and Caleb that their truce is over, adding: “We have started something and we do need to finish it.”

Caleb said he was ready for the showdown but Joe ominously told him: “You’ll never be ready.”

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
