“Yellowstone” has another spinoff series coming down the pipeline — and soon.
CBS announced May 7 that it has ordered a new series set in the world of Taylor Sheridan’s “Yellowstone,” following prodigal son Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes).
The series, with the working title “Y: Marshals,” is set to premiere midseason and will air Sundays on CBS. Luke Grimes will reprise his role as Kayce for the show.

The show is set to follow Kayce as he joins the U.S. Marshals, “combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana, where he and his teammates must balance family, duty and the high psychological cost that comes with serving as the last line of defense in the region’s war on violence,” CBS said in a release, announcing its 2025-2026 primetime schedule.
Sheridan, who co-created the original “Yellowstone,” is set to serve as executive producer, along with David C. Glasser, John Linson, Art Linson, Spencer Hudnut, Luke Grimes, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin and Bob Yari.
Hudnut is set to helm the series as showrunner.
The new show is set to find Kayce with “the Yellowstone Ranch behind him.”
The flagship series, which premiered in 2018, ended with Kayce and his family selling the Yellowstone ranch back to Broken Rock Reservation.
Meanwhile, Kayce’s sister, Beth (Kelly Reilly) kills their brother Jamie (Wes Bentley) as revenge for his role in the death of their father, John Dutton (Kevin Costner). Beth and her husband, Rip (Cole Hauser) cover their tracks and buy a new ranch in the Season 5 series finale.
Like Kayce, Beth and Rip’s story will reportedly continue in their own spinoff, Deadline reported in December 2024.
