Emmerdale fans ‘work out’ who kills Joe Tate in hospital and it’s returning icon

Emmerdale fans reckon they’ve sussed out who will be the end of Joe Tate – and it’s a face we all recognise.

Joe (Ned Porteous) made his dramatic comeback to the Dales in December last year, six years after his departure, and he certainly didn’t waste any time stirring up trouble.

Not only did he embark on an affair with Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley), but he also took drastic steps while struggling with chronic kidney disease. Faced with a bleak outlook without a transplant, Joe resorted to drugging his brother Noah Dingle (Jack Downham) to see if he was a match.

However, things took a shocking turn when a disoriented Noah wandered onto the road, leading to Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) crashing the limo she was driving into a lake.

However, last week, Joe’s deceptions and lies were revealed to everyone at a party at Home Farm.

He quickly became public enemy number one, so much so, that he ended up being pushed out of a window by an unknown individual. It was then disclosed that Joe was in a coma after suffering a bleed on his brain.

A host of Emmerdale residents have become suspects in the latest village drama, with Caleb, Charity, and Noah all under scrutiny. However, it was Dawn’s admission to Billy that she pushed Joe which left fans reeling earlier this week.

Yet, speculation is rife among viewers that someone else will “finish Joe off” while he’s hospitalised. Fans have been sharing their theories online, with many predicting a dramatic comeback.

Fans think Caleb’s daughter could be related to Jamie Tate

On an Emmerdale Facebook fan group, one fan speculated: “I wonder who is going to finish Joe off in hospital?” The comments section quickly filled with predictions, with several fans suggesting Jamie Tate (Alexander Lincoln) as the likely culprit.

One viewer commented: “I think it might be Jamie Tate.” Another concurred: “I was thinking the same, it would make sense him coming back with all the drama going on.” A further comment read: “That would be epic, I can see him now walking into Joe’s hospital room!”.

Jamie, portrayed by Alexander Lincoln, is the offspring of Kim Tate (Claire King). First appearing on our screens in 1996, Jamie has been central to numerous major storylines, including a memorable plot where he poisoned his mother Kim out of frustration with her controlling ways. She eventually discovered his actions, leading to him being disowned and disinherited.

The character of Jamie was last seen in 2021 after staging his own demise in a car accident. Believing her son to be dead, Kim was unaware that Jamie had actually escaped to live with his daughter Millie and her grandmother.

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
