Soap actor Stephen Rahman-Hughes said he was ‘welcomed back with warmth’ as he reprised an Emmerdale role he played 19 years ago.
Stephen returned to our screens as DS Vikesh Dasari in the ITV soap this month, shortly after Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) was pushed out of a window at Home Farm.
The story mirrored one that aired almost 20 years ago, which also saw Jimmy King’s (Nick Miles) father pushed from a window. Dasari investigated this, and was brought back to do the same with Joe’s fall.
Earlier this month, actor Stephen took to Instagram to share some behind the scenes pictures of him filming in the village, and at the Home Farm party.
He can be seen posing with stars including Ned, Olivia Bromley (Dawn Taylor) and Jack Downham (Noah Dingle). He also took a few selfies by the Emmerdale village sign, of course!
In the caption, he wrote: ‘From tonight’s episode I’ll be appearing on #emmerdale in a role I am reprising from 19 years ago. My second TV job appearing with the incredible @glynisbarber for those that may remember.

‘Sadly Glynis was killed off and couldn’t return but I was invited to come back. I had the most fun I’ve had on a set in a long time. So much welcome back warmth from a superb cast. There’s a big crime to solve so watch and see the drama unravel.’
Glynis Barber, who played Dasari’s colleague Grace, wrote in the comments: ‘I hope you laid some flowers for poor old Grace?’, and Stephen replied: ‘Yes I did say a few words. Grace is missed and remembered with much fondness.’.
Dasari is facing a problem in his investigation, as everyone he’s interviewed so far have either managed to provide water-tight alibis, or prove they didn’t push Joe out of the window.

The actual culprit was Dawn, after she learnt about Joe’s threats to her daughter Clemmie.
She told Billy in the aftermath and together, they created a cover-story that meant Dasari no longer thought either of them were responsible.
In his most recent appearance on screen, Dasari was told by Joe that he could now remember the incident, insisting that he tripped and fell by himself.
The detective found this suspicious, as it came on the same day that Noah retracted his statement against his brother…
