Emmerdale viewers are speculating about a potential comeback of one character after they were killed by Ruby Milligan (played by Beth Cordingly).

In past episodes, Ruby was under the impression she had murdered her own father, Anthony, following years of childhood abuse.

With help from Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller), John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth), and husband Caleb (William Ash), the crime was concealed, with John allegedly disposing of Anthony’s body.

However, aside from John, no one else knows the whereabouts of Anthony’s body, or even if he is truly deceased.

In heart-wrenching scenes broadcast last week, a corpse was retrieved from the lake, leading Ruby to instantly fear it was her father and that she would be incarcerated.

Contrary to her worries, the body turned out to be Nate Robinson’s (Jurrell Carter), and unknown to everyone else, it was John who placed his body there, reports Leeds Live.

In a flashback sequence, John administered a fatal injection into Nate’s neck, and despite believing he could rescue him, he died and informed everyone he had relocated to Shetland for work.

John subsequently discarded Nate’s body in the lake, and until now, he thought his secret was secure.

One fan shared on a Facebook fan page: “What is everyone’s theory on Anthony? I think he’s very much alive. Probably imprisoned by John somewhere or in hospital elsewhere with no memory.”

“He’s in Spain, isn’t he?” someone asked while another wrote: “That was faked by Joe.”
