Coronation Street star Kyran Bowes has shared an adorable tribute to the ‘best TV auntie’ as Sue Devaney celebrated her birthday.

The young actor is best known for playing Jack Webster in the ITV soap, having taken on the role in 2016. Fans will know that Jack is the teenage son of mechanic Kevin Webster and the tragic Molly Dobbs, who died in the Weatherfield tram disaster.

The young character has had an eventful young life, including a brush with death after battling sepsis during which he underwent a life-saving surgery to have his leg removed.

But away from his on-screen role, Kyran’s latest social media update revealed that Sue was marked her birthday. He took to Instagram with a picture of his co-star as Debbie, with the pair both appearing on-screen together, alongside a sweet tribute.

He wrote in view of his followers: “Happy birthday to this blumin bonkers, bubbly, absolutely brilliant and the best TV auntie I could ask for. I hope you have the best day @suedevaney13 you totally deserve it. PS we need a photo together next time we’re in.”

And fans were also quick to flood the post with birthday messages for Sue. @jinty2611 said: “Happy Birthday beautiful.” @xx_carchelle_swarla_xx commented: “Happy Birthday Sue!! Hope she has had a great day.” @everythingsoapsspoilers added: “Happy Birthday Sue!!”

Kyran’s tribute comes as Sue is flooded with love and praise from fans for her portrayal of Debbie in the long-running show, following a young-onset dementia diagnosis.

Fans have known about Debbie’s health bombshell for months. The hotel owner was growing concerned about her memory loss and booked an appointment at a private clinic, believing her symptoms may be related to the menopause.

It was then at the end of April, Debbie was formally given her diagnosis of young-onset vascular dementia and the neurologist confirmed that there was no medication to treat the illness.

As the storyline has unfolded, Corrie fans have been saddened that Debbie has been struggling with her developing symptoms in silence, with only half-brother Carl Webster aware, having found a letter in Debbie’s bag, forcing her to come clean.

In scenes aired last month, Debbie’s family, including brother Kevin and former partner Ronnie, found out about Debbie’s diagnosis after she collapsed.

Once she regained consciousness, Kevin and his wife, Abi, insisted on taking her to hospital. However, Debbie explained that she already knew what was wrong with her as she has dementia.

Following the scenes, Sue took to Instagram with a moving shot of herself as Debbie in the hospital and said: “At the moment I am playing Debbie in Corrie and my character has been diagnosed with young-onset dementia.

“This story is such an important one to tell and shows how it truly does take a society to beat dementia. Alzheimer’s Society is a proud partner of @CoronationStreet, highlighting that help is available every step of the way… thank you so much if you’re watching and joining me on Debbie’s journey @alzheimerssoc.”

Sally was quick to respond, as she wrote in the comments section: “I love you my beautiful, wonderful friend.” Sally Dynevor, who plays Sally Metcalfe in Corrie, also gushed: “You are wonderful Sue. Love you.”
