Jack P. Shepherd’s Plea for the Cobbles’ Hidden Gems
After 25 years immersed in the drama of Coronation Street, Jack P. Shepherd knows the iconic set like the back of his hand, from the bustling Rovers Return to the cozy Roy’s Rolls Cafe. But according to the Celebrity Big Brother winner, there’s one particular area that’s been consistently overlooked and deserves far more airtime: the infamous Corrie alleyways!
While waiting for filming to begin, Jack took to his Instagram Stories, giving fans an exclusive peek behind the scenes. Standing in one of the soap’s famous ginnels, he jokingly declared, “Should be more scenes in here. I’m going to do a petition to get more scenes in the alley, ginnel, snicket, whatever you want to bloody call it. Looks good though, don’t it?”
His tour didn’t stop there. He then led his followers into the rarely seen gardens of some of the soap’s most recognizable homes, pondering, “I don’t even know whose garden this is. Garden. Yard. Is it Dobbs. It could be Dobbs.” He even ventured into a shed, marveling at the incredible level of detail in the props, from paint cans to tools. “I mean, the level of detail, it’s extraordinary,” he added, highlighting the often-unseen dedication that goes into creating Weatherfield.
Could Jack’s playful “petition” actually spark a change, bringing more gritty, realistic, and perhaps even dangerous scenes to the less-explored corners of the street? Only time will tell if the producers heed his call!
Crossover Chaos: Is David Platt Headed to Emmerdale?!
But that’s not all the shocking news from Jack! The actor recently dropped a massive hint about a potential crossover event between Coronation Street and rival ITV soap Emmerdale! Speaking to Digital Spy at the British Soap Awards, Jack initially confirmed he would be part of an “hour-long special set to air in January.”
However, his co-star, Ben Price, who plays his on-screen brother Nick Tilsley, quickly stepped in with some stern words of advice, causing Jack to backtrack (or perhaps playfully feign a backtrack!). “I don’t know if I am. Not for a fact, I don’t,” Jack then corrected himself, adding, “The big key hitters, I think they might have been told. There’s rumours and I’m sniffing that I might be in the periphery.”
He then jokingly added, “With my Yorkshire accent. I think I’m in it, talking Yorkshire and they’re like, ‘Where are you from? Are you from Bradford?'” This playful jab at his own accent, and the potential for a character from the gritty streets of Weatherfield to mix with the rural drama of the Dales, only fuels the speculation.
If true, a crossover of this magnitude would be unprecedented and open up a world of dramatic possibilities. Imagine the clash of personalities, the intertwining storylines, and the sheer shock of seeing beloved characters from two distinct worlds collide! Will David Platt truly find himself in Emmerdale, or is this just a tease of something even bigger on the horizon for ITV’s flagship soaps?
What do you think of Jack P. Shepherd’s call for more alleyway scenes? And how would you feel about a Coronation Street and Emmerdale crossover?
