On Thursday (10th July), Mick’s wife Lou (Farrel Hegarty) was unveiled as Gary Windass’s (Mikey North) attacker, and she had been visiting him in hospital under a fake name.

Flashbacks showed Lou begging Gary for money, and when he refused, she threatened to lie to his wife Maria (Samia Longchambon), revealing a string of texts she had sent herself from his phone.

Gary insisted that he was planning to tell Maria everything, and when he goaded her about her kids potentially going into care, Lou saw red and hit Gary over the dead with a nearby blunt object.

Lou panicked, and hid out of sight when Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) and Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) stumbled upon the scene.

In their drug-induced state, Nina and Summer screamed in terror and pushed Gary away when he awoke briefly and reached out for help.

Lou emerged, and she and unconscious Gary were found by a passing dog walker who called an ambulance.

In the present, Gary regained consciousness while Lou was away from the hospital, and as he comes to terms with what’s happened to him, Lou sets about covering her tracks.

But official spoilers have confirmed that Lou is facing a world of trouble in the aftermath, so has she been arrested for her attack on Gary?

During all the drama, Mick makes an appearance from behind bars, as Coronation Street paves the way for a shocking twist where Mick returns to the cobbles to snatch children Brody (Ryan Mulvey), Joanie and Shanice and go on the run.

Actor Layton teased of Mick: “He isn’t after revenge, this is about him wanting to get his family together and start a new life with them.

“The anger that we saw when he killed Craig has been replaced by desperation and love for his family, but that doesn’t make him any less dangerous.

“Kit is potentially putting his life on the line once more in his attempts to stop Mick.”

Mick will turn violent on old enemy Kit, whose life hangs in the balance. Will Kit survive, and what becomes of Mick?
