Since debuting the Western drama for the Paramount Network in June 2018, Yellowstone series creator Taylor Sheridan has built his own multiverse surrounding the series, with two prequels already released and several more breakouts in development. The upcoming series, Y: Marshals, follows Dutton’s transition from a ranch hand to a member of the U.S. Marshals. Sheridan returns to the latest installment as an executive producer alongside its star, Luke Grimes, reprising his role as Kayce Dutton.
The Western mastermind shared his insight to thousands of Longhorns as the commencement speaker at the University of Texas at Austin’s graduation this weekend. But what else has the native Texan turned cowboy Sheridan been up to since Yellowstone concluded?
When Yellowstone wrapped in 2024, Sheridan was already in the thick of several other television series, serving in creator, writer, executive producer and director roles. Here’s what’s in the works from the Fort Worth native.
‘Mayor of Kingstown’
Launched in 2021, Sheridan created the Paramount+ crime thriller Mayor of Kingstown, starring Avengers alum Jeremy Renner. After premiering in November 2021, the series has so far hit a three-season stride, with Paramount+ renewing the show for a fourth season in December 2024.
The series follows Renner as Mike McLusky, who takes over as “Mayor” of the fictional town of Kingstown, Michigan following his brothers’ death. The town’s business revolves around incarceration, and McLusky’s family serves as the mediators between gangs, prisoners, law enforcement and the guards.
‘Tulsa King’
Starring Sylvester Stallone, Tulsa King first began airing on Paramount+ in 2022 and sees Stallone’s Dwight “the General” Manfredi released from prison. An American mafia caporegime, he heads to Tulsa, Oklahoma after being released from a New York prison and begins organizing a criminal group. Season 2 of the series premiered in September 2024 before wrapping in November.

‘Lioness’
Newly Academy Award-winning actress Zoe Saldaña leads Sheridan’s Lioness, a Paramount+ spy thriller that also features Nicole Kidman and Morgan Freeman. The series — which tracks the undercover CIA operations of the war on terror with a group of female operatives — premiered in July 2023 and was renewed for a second season, which debuted in October 2024.
‘Landman’
Nestled in the oil fields of West Texas, Landman stars Billy Bob Thornton as a landman for an oil company, with additional performances by Demi Moore and Jon Hamm. The Paramount+ series, inspired in part by the series’ co-creator Christian Wallace and his podcast Texas Monthly Boomtown, debuted in November 2024 and was renewed for a second season in March 2025.

‘The Madison’
One of Sheridan’s upcoming series in development is The Madison, starring Michelle Pfeiffer and following the McIntosh family as they traverse from New York City to central Montana. Paramount unveiled plans for the series back in May 2023, and while a definitive premiere date hasn’t been announced, reports suggest a late 2025 debut.
‘Dutton Ranch’
Fans of Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler’s love story will have plenty more to explore in yet another Yellowstone spinoff series joining the mix. Bloomberg reported in early May original stars Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser would reprise their roles of Beth and Rip in the tentatively titled Dutton Ranch. That installment is expected to debut on the Paramount Network in the fall, per Bloomberg.

‘1944’
Reportedly in the works, 1944 would follow the Dutton family and their ranch during World War II, in the years following the events detailed in 1923. Production details or specifics on a release date haven’t been announced at this time, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
