The ITV soap – which debuted way back in 1972 – is no stranger to killing off legends.
Throughout its 53-year run on screens, several iconic villagers have ended up six feet under, including Val Pollard (Charlie Hardwick), Alice Dingle (Ursula Holden-Gill) and recently, Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter).

Now, Emmerdale fans are certain another character is set to die as they have ‘worked out’ whose grave Cain Dingle visits.

A flashforward showed Cain at a grave(Image: ITV)
As viewers will recall, the soap aired a flash forward last year that saw Cain standing by a dug grave, indicating that a funeral occurred. Cain is seen dressed in a suit, having attended the service, and crying at the graveside.
The victim of the grave is yet to be revealed, however, viewers reckon they ‘know’ who it is after a major clue in the latest instalment.

During Monday’s episode (July 28), after a break-in at Moira Dingle’s (Natalie J Robb) barn, Cain is certain enemy Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) is behind it, not knowing one of the burglars was actually Dylan (Fred Kettle).

Cain blames Joe and wants to seek revenge, but Moira wants to involve the police first. Despite an investigation, Joe denies involvement and there’s nothing to build a case on.
Giving in to her anger, Moira goes to hit Joe and catches Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) accidentally, before warning him to stay away from her family.

Viewers have predicted Lydia’s death
However, fans can’t help but think that Lydia could potentially die from the shock assault, and is the victim whom Cain visits in the flashforward.

“So, Lydia has just been hit in the head by Moira and she has blood coming from her ear. Could this be Lydia’s exit? Is it her grave Cain was crying at (Lydia being family and Moria being responsible),” mused one person on an Emmerdale Facebook fan page. Another person agreed: “Yes I think so as well”. A third penned: “Agreed, something will definitely happen.”
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
