Cole Hauser Says His ‘Yellowstone’ Spinoff Actually Isn’t Titled ‘Dutton Ranch’

By now, fans of the hit drama Yellowstone have learned that the only certain thing with the Dutton universe is uncertainty. It’s a lesson we’re getting all over again now, courtesy of star Cole Hauser.

The actor, who played the enigmatic ranch hand Rip Wheeler in the original series and is now reportedly slated as a lead in a planned spinoff series this fall, took to Fox News this week to speak out about the vanishingly few details about the series that have escaped thus far.

“Well, first of all, it’s not Dutton Ranch,” Hauser said. “That’s not the name of it.” His comments follow reporting in recent weeks that indicated that the show is currently operating under the working title Dutton Ranch. Though that fact was seemingly confirmed in a later earnings call when Paramount Global co-CEO Chris McCarthy referred to the series by the same name, Hauser seemed vehement that the name wouldn’t be sticking around. Sadly, he didn’t say anything about what the title will be.

Aside from dashing that idea, Hauser was typically circumspect about the series, saying only that fans can “expect the same that we’ve been doing for the last seven years,” and adding that he can co-star Kelly Reilly are, “going and working our ass off trying to create something special.”

All of this comes despite the fact that the Rip-and-Beth spinoff, which is apparently not titled Dutton Ranch, still has yet to be officially confirmed by the network. While it does seem clear that the show is definitely happening, with numerous sources indicating that the show is planned for a November 2025 debut, for now we’ll just have to wait—and hope that more details are forthcoming when the show at last begins production.
