Coronation Street fans have been left floored after discovering who Carl Webster actor Jonathan Howard is married to in real life.

Jonathan made his debut on the ITV soap this month, playing Carl; the estranged brother of Kevin (Michael Le Vell) and Debbie (Sue Devaney). Carl arrived in Weatherfield to reunite with Kevin – who is fighting testicular cancer.

His first appearance came following a minor collision in Frescho’s car park with Abi Wester (Sally Carman) who he didn’t know was his sister-in-law. But after some flirtatious looks and sarcastic remarks, there was clearly a spark between the two.

Carl then asked to take Abi out for a drink, despite her insisting she was married. However, later on, and thinking they would never see each other again, Carl and Abi met once more when Carl showed up at the Bistro to surprise his family.

Abi was left floored after realising the man in the car park was her husband’s little brother. What’s more, it seems an affair could be on the cards for Carl and Sally.

Prior to his Corrie stint, actor Jonathan appeared in the likes of several Hollywood films including World War Z, Downton Abbey, and Thor: The Dark World. He also bagged a role in the blockbuster Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

However, it’s his personal life that has got fans talking after they realised he is married to a famous actress. Away from the TV sets, Jonathan is loved-up with actress Elodie Yung.

Elodie Yung has starred in the likes of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Daredevil. More recently, she played the title role of Thony De La Rosa in The Cleaning Lady.

On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, alongside a photo of the couple, one person wrote: “Jonathan Howard who plays Carl and his wife Elodie Yung.”

Someone else penned: “Why do I recognise his wife?” A third wrote: “She’s been in a few things, The Cleaning Lady on Sky.” Another fan replied: “Oh yes! That’s where I’ve seen her!” A fifth also said: “She played Elektra as well.” A sixth person chimed in and replied with a mind-blown emoji.
