Emmerdale aired heartbreaking scenes for Cain Dingle on Thursday evening (June 5) when he was informed that his son, Nate Robinson, had been found dead.
While Cain planned to spend quality time with his wife Moira (Natalie J Robb) they were interrupted by a police detective who confirmed Nate’s (Jurell Carter) body had been discovered in the lake, and he had been there for nine months.

Across the village, Tracy Robinson (Amy Walsh) also found out that her husband was dead despite thinking he was in Shetland working on a wind farm.
Tracy cried as she answered the detective’s questions and wasted no time in confessing Cain has attacked Nate and “wished he was dead” only hours before his disappearance.

As detectives confirmed that the body found in the lake is Nate, there was little time for Cain to grieve for his son as he’s hauled down to the station for questioning.
Consumed in shock, Cain failed to disclose to the police that he had attacked his son the day before his last sighting leaving him looking like a guilty suspect. But as fans will know, John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) is responsible for his murder.
During questioning, Cain told detectives that he tried to phone Nate at the end of April.
“His phone, I called him a few weeks ago on his mobile and someone answered,” Cain explains.
“I don’t know, they didn’t say anything. But whoever’s done this, they were listening to his messages.”

Handing over the proof on his phone log, the village badboy added: “Why would I call him if I knew he was dead? Now that you’ve got some actual evidence, can you let me go?”.
Fortunately, Cain was not under arrest and was allowed to return to the village where his family had gathered in The Woolpack upon hearing the dreadful news.
Meanwhile, Emmerdale viewers rushed to social media and claimed they have never seen Cain in such despair during his 25 years in the village. On X, one person wrote: “I’ve never seen Cain Dingle so broken.”
