Former EastEnders star Danny Dyer is reuniting with a soap legend for the new season of his popular comedy.

Danny joined the BBC soap in 2013, becoming an instant fan favourite in the role of Queen Vic owner Mick Carter.

Known for his love of his family and no-nonsense attitude, Mick was at the heart of the programme for nine years.

Sadly, Danny’s final exit scenes, where Mick disappeared in the sea, aired on Christmas Day in 2022, with the character not seen since.

In the years that have followed his EastEnders exit, Danny has remained busy, recently starring in his latest crime film Marching Powder.

On top of this, the London actor won rave reviews from critics for his performance in Disney+ drama Rivals, which he starred in with David Tennant.

Picking up two weeks after Lee and Glen (Ryan Sampson), learned their dad’s not dead, chaos continues to follow the siblings around at every turn.

In news that will please EastEnders fans, Danny is being joined this season by Linda Henry, who played Shirley Carter on Albert Square.

Initially introduced as Shirley’s brother, Mick was left stunned in 2014 by the reveal that Phil Mitchell’s former love was actually his mum.

Following a family feud over the secret, Mick and Shirley’s bond eventually grew as they got used to their son and mother relationship.

Linda, who has not played Shirley since 2022, will be playing Pam On Mr Brightstuff, a no-nonsense, hands-on mechanic at the family haulage firm.

Also confirmed to be appearing in the show is Shaun Williamson, with the Barry Evans actor playing an angry clown.

If all that wasn’t enough, Coronation Street Rula Lenska, who played Claudia Colby on the ITV soap, is playing an eccentric and flirtatious woman named Rita.

The new series of Mr Bigstuff starts this July on Sky and NOW.
