Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) has got enough on her plate in Emmerdale, the last thing she needed was for Ross (Michael Parr) to announce his new brother wants to meet her.
Ross met Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches) for the first time last week. He his Ross’ half-brother and was adopted when he was a baby, which means he barely knows a thing about his mum Emma.
Lewis wanted to meet Ross to find out more about his life, and the Bartons he’s never met. Even before Ross saw Lewis he was aware of how risky the meeting could be, and knew he’d have to steer far from the truth about Emma, so he didn’t get suspicious.
Unfortunately, what Ross didn’t consider is the fact Lewis had access to internet information about Emma and the Bartons. Painting his mum as a kind-hearted nurse meant Ross was caught out in a lie and tonight, Lewis confronted him about it.
In the café, Lewis confirmed that he had googled Emma Barton and knows about the Hotten Bypass crash, and the fact she shot Ross’ brother Finn and k.i.l.l.e.d him. Lewis wondered why Ross lied, but of course he didn’t want to confirm their mum was a complete nutter.
Ross was very careful about what he told Lewis and generally didn’t want to talk about the troubled past he has. Fortunately (well, ish), the subject was changed when Lewis grew curious about Ross’ facial scars.
He was a little bit blunt in the way he asked about them though, which annoyed Ross. Lewis then confirmed that he has autism, which can sometimes mean understanding social cues and carrying on conversations are challenging.
Listening in on their conversation (what a surprise) was Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler). Curious about the arrival of a new Barton, Nicola told Lewis that he should meet Moira next, and he was pretty keen on the idea.
Unfortunately though, Ross wasn’t.
But they’ve lied before, so Moira decided they’d be more than capable of lying again. The plan is to invite Lewis for a cup of tea, keep to their plan while he’s there, and then send him on his way.
