Great news for EastEnders fans! Heather Peace, who plays Eve Unwin on the popular BBC One soap, has shared an encouraging update following her recent breast cancer treatment. Last month, Peace revealed her diagnosis from October, confirming she underwent surgery and recovery over the Christmas period, and has since completed chemotherapy.
In a candid interview on the “94% podcast,” Peace opened up about how fitness has become a crucial part of her recovery, focusing on both physical and mental well-being. “I think coming through what I’ve come through, I think fitness will be instrumental for the rest of my life,” she stated. “It’s now that I need to absolutely focus in on that. Otherwise, I’m just accepting deterioration. I won’t accept it at all. I want to be fit and I want to be strong. It’s such a good feeling when you’re at your top.”
Peace also highlighted the importance of returning to EastEnders for her mental health, praising her fellow cast members for their unwavering support. “I needed work as well. I needed that for my mental health,” she continued. “I have a fantastic cast of friends who just absolutely enveloped me and made me feel safe. A day at work just absolutely lifted my spirits and made me laugh and made me feel loved. I felt very vulnerable. I felt I lost a bit of my confidence, but it’s coming back now.”
While things have been relatively quiet for Eve and Suki on screen since their dramatic New Year’s wedding, Suki’s actor, Balvinder Sopal, recently teased that new show boss Ben Wadei has exciting plans in store for the couple. Sopal exclusively told Digital Spy, “Ben Wadei introduced Suki, so he’s definitely a fan of Suki… He is a fan, yeah, absolutely. And we’ve got some wonderful stuff coming up.”
This positive update from Heather Peace is sure to bring relief and joy to her fans and the EastEnders community, as she continues her journey of recovery with the support of her colleagues and a renewed focus on her health.
