Rumours suggest she’ll reappear for her daughter, Gabby’s, wedding, but it seems her return will be laced with surprises, as the post read: “She’s never gone for too long, get ready to say hello to Bernice Blackstock later this summer as Samantha Giles reprises the role after two years away.”

Rumours are swirling that Bernice will come back for Gabby and Vinny’s nuptials, with production due to kick off shortly. An insider told The Sun: “Everything is being kept very hush hush but, of course, Bernice’s return is a big deal as one of the soap’s most loved characters.

“And Samantha being back among the cast is a real win too, as everyone loves working with her.”

The actress made her Emmerdale debut in November 1998 and exited in April 2002. She has since had two more spells on the show before her exit in 2023.

Since leaving the soap world, Samantha has been focusing on diverse projects such as a stint in the theatre production of The Syndicate.

When The Sun asked her about a possible return to Emmerdale, she shared: “I don’t feel I’d want to go back to Emmerdale at the moment. I’m enjoying doing other things, and the show changes.

“I haven’t had a chance to see what’s going on with the show, so I don’t know whether Bernice would fit into it at the moment. Who knows? They might not want the character to come back.”

She added: “I don’t think they’ve killed her or anything – they could still do that. It’s something that’s there for the future possibly, or not.

“Never say never is what I’m saying. For now, I’m enjoying doing lots of different things.”

The announcement of her potential return has caused quite the stir on social media, with fans voicing their excitement about the iconic character’s return.
