Emmerdale viewers think they’ve finally exposed the identity of Lewis Barton’s biological dad just weeks after he joined the ITV soap. The long-lost son of the late Emma Barton and half-brother to Pete, Ross and Finn turned up in May this year – leaving the family blindsided. With the secret of Moira m.u.r.d.e.r.i.n.g his mum threatening to leak, Lewis was immediately on the trail of the truth.
This week it all came out that Adam was on the run to cover for his mother, leaving Lewis floored. It’s left him embroiled in a blackmailing plot, with Ross threatening to tell the police about him illegally growing cannabis.
But there’s a bigger mystery at play – the identity of Lewis’ biological father. It has been confirmed that he is not the son of James Barton, Emma’s husband, but fans think it could be someone who is still in the village.Taking to Reddit to air their theories, some suggested resident doctor Liam Cavanagh could be Lewis’ dad after the pair bonded over a shared love of gardening.
One posted: “I doubt it is, but I’d actually kind of love that! They have a similar look, similar interests, and while I don’t like Liam (or Lewis), it’s integrate both better into the village and give them wider connections and relationships. Plus, it’d be so sweet to set him get a second chance at fatherhood.”
Liam’s daughter Leanna was k.i.l.l.e.d by serial m.u.r.d.e.r.e.r Meena Jutla in a tense storyline, leaving him bereft.
Another viewer penned: “I too think it might be Dr Liam. First I thought it was odd that in the Woolpack t’other night Lewis made a beeline to talk to Liam (about his allotment, unless this is going to be relevant to the cannabis storey line involving Ross & Mack) when he could have struck up a conversation with any of the regulars.
“Secondly Lewis’s Mum was a nurse and she could easily have crossed paths with Doctor Liam before he moved to Emmerdale. But he’ll probably be a Dingle!”
Somebody else argued: “It would be a real soap twist if Lewis’ father was John, Moira’s ex deceased husband.” While another wondered: “Declan Macy. Just throwing it out there. Be another way to draw him back to Emmerdale.”
