The new docu-follow competition series spotlights up-and-coming musicians as they navigate the gritty and unforgiving life of a touring musician. These 12 talented artists on the verge of stardom will compete as opening acts for Grammy Award winner Keith Urban at music venues across America, proving a high-stakes platform to document their musical journey and seize the grand prize.

Throughout the season, they will be joined by executive producers Sheridan and Shelton, “Tour Manager” Wilson, and other country music stars, to be announced at a later time. They, along with the live venue audience, will determine who advances to the next city. Only one of the talented twelve triple threats – singers, songwriters, and instrumentalists – will walk away with the grand prize, soon to be announced.

The trio of country music greats has each had their turn on reality television in various capacities. Blake Shelton served as the longest-tenured judge on The Voice between 2011 and 2023. Keith Urban is best known as a judge during the FOX run of American Idol during Seasons 12 through 15. He has also served as a Mega Mentor on The Voice. Gretchen Wilson is the most recent winner of The Masked Singer.

After winning as Pearl, she spoke to Collider and discussed her venture on The Road. “It’s a different show. It’s not going to be your run-of-the-mill. It’s very realistic,” she said. She noting how “It’s really getting on the bus, moving around city to city, playing in front of a crowd that’s not necessarily there to see you.” As far as her role on the show, she joked, “They called me more of the ‘tour momager’ than the tour manager, and that’s kind of what the role is really.”
