Cain Dingle is the ultimate bad boy of Emmerdale. Over his 24 years in the village he’s committed a lot of crimes – whether that’s attempted murder, impregnating teenagers, assault or stealing other men’s wives!

We’d be here all day if we documented every naughty thing Cain has ever done, so here is a rundown of his most infamous actions…

Cain’s dangerous affair with policewoman Angie Reynolds gave Emmerdale fans an early indication of what he was capable of. He initially targeted the married mum-of-two over his brother Butch’s death. Then loathing turned to lust and Cain didn’t stop until Angie was in his bed.

Being seduced by the local bad boy was quite the thrill, but when Angie decided to go back to her husband Cain saw red. In a seedy act of revenge, he had sex with Angie’s teenage daughter Ollie. Oh and he also attacked Angie’s elderly father Len, pushing him down a flight of stairs.

When Angie discovered what he’d done, Cain had to pay. Working with the police, Angie plotted to set Cain up for a robbery. But the plan went horribly wrong and Angie was fatally wounded in a car chase. She died in Cain’s arms as he begged her to say she loved him. Those three little words never came though.

Cain double-crosses Sadie King
Cain’s always had a penchant for posh totty, and how can anyone forget his dirty dealings with superbitch Sadie King?

She enlisted his help to stop her millionaire father-in-law Tom from marrying Charity Dingle. Cain was instructed to seduce Charity, while Sadie set up a camera to capture the moment. She presented the incriminating snaps to Tom and Charity got jilted at the altar. Sadie then dumped Cain and he responded by killing her pet dog, Damon!

The pair resumed their alliance when Sadie paid Cain to plough a JCB into the King family’s show home at the Kings River development. The building was badly damaged, and the family botched the repairs. On the day of its grand unveiling, the show home exploded, killing three locals.

Cain and Sadie didn’t stop there. They then conspired to kidnap Tom King and demand £5 million in ransom money. Events reached a dramatic climax when Cain kidnapped Tom and pretended to shoot Sadie in the stomach. Tom coughed up the cash and Sadie arranged to do a runner with Cain.

But he proved just how ruthless he could be when he made off with the money and left Sadie with nothing.

Emmerdale Cain Dingle’s crimes: Getting Amy Wyatt pregnant
Cain stooped to a new low when he began bedding troubled teen Amy Wyatt. At the time she was barely legal at 16, and Cain should have known better at 36!

It wasn’t the first time Cain has seduced someone young enough to be his daughter. A few years earlier he’d impregnated Debbie’s best friend Jasmine Thomas.

Amy also found herself in the family way, but cold-hearted Cain tried to force her to abort the baby. Amy found out she was too far gone for a termination and hid her pregnancy from Cain. Months later, Amy gave birth alone in the graveyard and left her newborn son in the local phone box.

That baby grew up to be Kyle. Cain has made up for his past actions by being a good dad to the lad, and even took the blame when Kyle shot Al Chapman dead.

Cain the serial love cheat
Morality isn’t high up on Cain’s priorities. He hasn’t managed to stay faithful in any of the relationships he’s been in – and that includes his marriage to Moira.

Their own love story began as an affair behind Moira’s then-husband John’s back. The mechanic succeeded in tearing a family apart, but he didn’t seem to care too much.

Cain’s most toxic relationship has been the on/off one he’s had with Charity. The cousins became lovers when they were underage teens, which resulted in the birth of daughter Debbie.

In 2016, Cain slipped back in Charity’s bed after his marriage to Moira hit a rough patch. They had a brief, but very passionate, fling and many of their fans are hoping for a repeat performance one day.

Cain often has murder in mind. Although he’s technically not killed anyone (that we know of) he’s certainly tried to.

Back in 2015 Cain plotted to murder Robert Sugden and frame his ex-wife Chrissie for the crime. He formulated the plan after Robert was shot and Aaron was wrongly charged with the crime.

Desperate to protect his family, Cain snuck into the hospital where Robert was recovering, using a teddy bear to hide himself from the CCTV cameras. Cain then lured Chrissie to the hospital under false pretenses before heading into Rob’s room, where he attempted to cut his oxygen tubes.

The plan was thwarted and Robert survived. We’d love to see Robert return and this rivalry reignited!

In October 2022, Cain was at it again when he decided to do away with Chas’s former lover Al. He had discovered the pair were sleeping together behind Paddy’s back. But the worst part of it was Chas had missed their mum Faith’s passing because she was too busy getting jiggy with Al. And as far as Cain was concerned that was reason enough to murder Al.

During a tense showdown at Butlers, Cain threatened to shoot the sleazy businessman dead. A scuffle then ensued and Al ended up with a bullet in him.

But it turned out Cain wasn’t the killer – it was young Kyle who had pulled the trigger to protect his dad.

Cain took the rap for his son’s crime and served time in prison.

Anyone who crosses Cain’s family gets what’s coming to them, as Joe Tate discovered.

Chris Tate’s scheming son used Cain’s daughter Debbie as a pawn in his ruthless games. First Joe tricked her into believing he was a businessman called Tom Waterhouse as part of a scheme to get back to Charity, who he blamed for his dad’s death. Then he convinced Debbie he wanted to marry her, when really he was out to steal Kim Tate’s fortune.

Cain got caught up in the drama and landed a punch on duplicitous Joe. He was knocked out cold and Cain feared he’d actually killed him. But Joe wasn’t really dead, as Cain later found out.

There is no love lost between the pair, and heaven help Joe once Cain finds out what he did to poor Noah.

Nate and the lake
No, it’s not that lake we’re talking about, but Nate nearly met a watery end six years earlier thanks to Cain.

He discovered that Nate had been having a passionate affair with his wife Moira. But what Cain didn’t realise was that Nate was in fact his longlost son. He had been brought up believing Cain had abandoned him and decided to take revenge by seducing his missus.

All hell broke loose when Cain realised what Nate and Moira were up to. He tracked the cheating pair down to a hotel then lured them onto a boat in the middle of a lake. A brawl broke out, Nate revealed his true identity, and Moira went overboard, almost drowning. Cain almost killed Nate too, but decided to save him at the last minute.

Father and son eventually made up, but their relationship was often stormy. In fact the last thing Cain ever did to Nate was punch him after wrongly thinking he was sleeping with Moira again!

Now this really was the lowest of the low. Cheating with your brother’s missus while your own wife is undergoing life-saving surgery to remove a brain tumour. But that’s Cain for you!

He and Ruby agreed to keep their indiscretion a secret, but then Anthony found out and all hell broke loose.

Once Caleb confronted Cain with the truth he knew he had no other option but to tell Moira. This is probably the worst thing Cain has ever done to his wife and it’s no wonder Moira considered kicking him out.

Can the couple survive Cain’s betrayal? Only time will tell.
