The American network CBS has ordered a new series spin-off from Yellowstone, focusing on the character Kayce Dutton.
The Yellowstone universe continues to expand, and this time, it’s moving beyond the confines of Paramount+ with a new spin-off series ordered by CBS. Currently titled Y: Marshals, this fresh spin-off will follow the youngest of the Dutton siblings, Kayce, as he joins an elite U.S. Marshals unit.
Kayce Dutton Returns
The project has been in the works since March, but it’s now official: Luke Grimes will return to his role as Kayce Dutton, which he portrayed across five seasons of Yellowstone, for this new series.
CBS has commissioned 13 episodes of this spin-off, with filming expected to start this summer for a mid-2026 broadcast. It is not yet known where Y: Marshals will be available internationally, but in France, the Yellowstone franchise shows are available on several streaming platforms.
In Y: Marshals, Kayce “leaves the Yellowstone ranch behind to join an elite marshals unit, combining his cowboy skills and Navy SEAL experience to bring justice to Montana, where he and his team must balance family, duty, and the high psychological toll that comes with being the last line of defense in the region’s war against violence.”
Spencer Hudnut (SEAL Team) serves as the writer, executive producer, and showrunner for Y: Marshals. The creator of Yellowstone, Taylor Sheridan, is also involved in this spin-off as an executive producer. Like all other shows in the franchise, Y: Marshals is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios.
What Other Yellowstone Spin-offs Are Coming?
Following 1883 and 1923, the Yellowstone franchise has a promising future. Aside from Y: Marshals, other series about the Dutton family are in the works, including a third prequel titled 1944 and a spin-off focusing on Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler, featuring Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser.
There will also be a series called The Madison, starring Michelle Pfeiffer, which was filmed in 2024 and tells the story of the McIntosh family from New York, now living in Montana’s Madison River valley.
Finally, another spin-off dedicated to the Four Sixes (6666) ranch, seen in seasons 4 and 5 of Yellowstone, was announced in 2021 but has since been quiet.
Where to Watch the Yellowstone Series Franchise?
In France, the original series Yellowstone is available for streaming on Netflix (seasons 1 to 4) and Paramount+ (in full), accessible through Canal+ offers. The first spin-off, 1883, is also available on these two platforms.
The two seasons of 1923, featuring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren, are available only on Paramount+, as are other Taylor Sheridan series such as Landman, Tulsa King, and Special Ops: Lioness.
